Privacy Notice & Member Information Protection
What information does the Credit Union consider private?
All personal financial information that identifies you and that you provide to Coast Guard Employees Credit Union through any channel is considered non-public personal information. Protecting your privacy—along with your financial assets—is one of our top priorities.
How do you protect my information?
We restrict access to non-public personal information to employees who need it to provide products or services to you and to administer or enforce the terms of your accounts and agreements. Information from other institutions involved in your transactions.
Do you share my information with others?
We do not disclose non-public personal information about our members or former members except as permitted or required by law, or as otherwise described in this notice.
When may information be shared as permitted or required by law?
Examples include, but are not limited to:
Responding to lawful requests from a court, government agency, or regulatory authority.
Administering or enforcing the terms of your account(s) and/or agreements.
Reporting to consumer credit reporting agencies.
Sharing with parties involved in processing your transactions (such as other financial institutions).
You cannot opt out of information sharing that is permitted or required by law for these purposes.
Do you share information with third-party service providers?
Yes, we may share information with third parties that provide services on our behalf, such as statement printers and outside collection agencies. These providers are required by written agreement to keep your information confidential and to use it only to provide the services we request.
You cannot opt out of this type of information sharing because it is necessary for account servicing and operations.
Do you share my information for marketing purposes?
No. Coast Guard Employees Credit Union does not share members’ non-public personal information with joint marketing partners or marketing services. The membership as a whole has opted out of such activities, so no individual opt-out action is required.
What happens if I terminate my membership?
If you terminate your membership, we will continue to protect your information and will not share it, except as permitted or required by law.
Can I authorize the Credit Union to release my information to someone else?
Yes. If you want us to release information to another person or organization, you must provide a signed written authorization that clearly states:
The specific information to be released, and
The name of the person/entity authorized to receive it.
Please send the authorization in advance to allow time for verification. Delays may occur if we cannot verify the request.

Never share your account number with others unless you are certain you are communicating with authorized Credit Union staff.
Avoid sending confidential information by email unless you are using a secure method.
