Our goal is to maintain your trust and confidence when handling personal information about you. We understand that your privacy is important.

Respecting Your Individual Wishes

We at Coast Guard Employees Credit Union value the privacy of our members.

  • You have chosen to do business with us, and we recognize our responsibility to keep the information you provide to us secure and confidential.
  • We believe that all personal financial information specific to you that you provide the Credit Union through any channel constitutes personal information. Protecting your privacy, along with your financial assets is our top priority.
  • Within the credit union, we restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you and administer and enforce the terms of your accounts and agreements with us.
  • We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your non-public personal information.
  • As a service to you, our member, we may share information with select third parties that can officer valuable products and that may interest you.
  • When we share information with other parties for marketing purposes, you can expect them to treat it with the same strict standards as your credit union.
  • In addition, Coast Guard Employees Credit Union has signed confidentiality agreements with our partners ensuring that they do not reuse or sell your information to anyone.

Information We Collect and Disclose to Others

In the course of doing business we collect and use various types of information about you. We may access and disclose such records when considering a request from you for additional services or when exercising our rights under the law or any agreement with you. We collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications and other forms you submit to us, such as your name, address and driver’s license number.
  • Information we receive from credit reporting agencies, such as your credit worthiness and credit history.
  • Other institutions involved in your transactions.
  • We do not disclose any non-public personal information about our members or former members to anyone, except as permitted or required by law or as otherwise specified in this disclosure.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

Examples of situations in which we may share any information we have about you as allowed or required by law include but are not limited to:

  • We exchange information in response to lawful requests issued by a court, government agency, or regulatory authority or as permitted by law in order to administer or enforce the terms of your account(s) and/or agreements with us.
  • We also share information about you with various consumer credit reporting agencies.
  • We share information with third parties involved in processing your transactions such as other financial institutions.

You cannot opt out of the above type of information sharing.


Sharing Information with Third Parties Service Providers

We may share any information we have about you with third parties with whom we contract to provide services to you on our behalf, such as statement printers and outside collection agencies. These third parties make written agreements with us that they will keep your information confidential and use it only to provide the services we request of them.

You cannot opt out of the above type of information sharing.

Sharing Information with Marketing Services

The Coast Guard Employees Credit Union does not share your personal non-public information with marketing services. The membership as a whole has opted out of such activities.


Termination of Membership

If you decide to terminate your membership with Coast Guard Employees Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.


Opt Out Election

Since we do not share any information with Joint Marketing Partners or other such activities there is no need to opt out of such activities.


Member Authorization

If you wish for us to release any information to others, you must provide a signed original letter providing in detail the type of information to convey along with the name of the person to receive such information. Such request must be sent to the address below prior to any personnel at the credit union releasing the same.

You should mail such items in advance of the request to allow personnel at the credit union to verify the release authorization. Failure to verify such information can result in delays of the request.


Protecting Your Identity

It is important to always be vigil when conducting any financial transactions to protect your identity. Never provide your account number to others and only when you are sure that you are talking to the staff of the credit union. You should never provide such information in Email transmissions unless you are sure that such communications is via a secured method.

Please be certain to read the Disclosure and instructions carefully and notify us at once if any parts are unclear.
