A provision of the Federal Credit Union Act which permits an individual to remain a member of the credit union until he or she chooses to withdraw or is expelled from the membership of the credit union. Under this provision, leaving a group that is named in the credit union's charter does not terminate an individual's membership in the credit union.
Field of membership (FOM) includes the people, organizations, and other legal entities that a credit union is premitted to accept for membership.
To join you must be an employee of the U.S. Coast Guard (employee, active duty, reservist, auxiliary, or retired) and reside within the 8th USCG District, belong to an organization that has an account with the credit union or be immediate family of a CGECU member.
If you are an Employee of the USCG, an Active Duty member of the USCG, in the USCGR, a USCG AUX member, retired Employee of the USCG, or retired USCG Military who lives or works within the map indicated to the right then you are eligible for membership in the credit union.
